Not for the fainthearted, as the descent into the Maletsenyane Gorge is about 2hrs and very steep. A good level of fitness is required and a real sense of adventure. Once you are in the gorge with anything up to 2,5 kg of brown or rainbow trout on your line any pain will disappear. Please note this tour is based on a costing of 4 People and we do not recommend more than that.

DAY 1

Travel in your own vehicle to Semonkong Lodge. Meet up with local fishing guide(s) at Semonkong Lodge  - ensuite accommodation included - Dinner and Breakfast at your own expense  - book meals directly with the lodge. The guides and lodge management will explain everything to you concerning the packhorses and the Fishing Trip.

DAY 2

Early Breakfast and packing of Fishing Gear and lunch into your vehicle for 4 x4 Trip to the top of gorge. You will pack all your camping equipment, food etc. onto the packhorses and they will leave for the gorge. You dont have to worry about this - all will be explained to you the evening before. You will drive to a spot where it is safe to leave your vehicle and begin your ascent into the gorge carrying just your fishing gear and a small day pack with some lunch. Everything else goes onto the packhorses. One guide will accompnay you into the gorge and straight to the good fishing spots. The other guide will take the packhorses to the campsite and set up camp. Afternoon and Evening Fishing. Camp alongside the river which will have been set up by the time you get there by the guides.You bring all your own camping food and refrreshments. An extra packhorse can be hired R300 per day if you want to take down extra luxuries.

DAY 3

Early breakfast: Whole day fishing upstream, lunch on the river and back to camp.

DAY 4

Early breakfast: Whole day fishing upstream, lunch on the river and back to camp.

DAY 5

Early Breakfast: Fish from morning until lunch 14h00 climb out of gorge to your vehicle and drive back to Semonkong Lodge. Ensuite Accommodation included - meals and drinks at your own expense.

DAY 6

After breakfast (not included) you will continue your journey home

What to Bring

Everything - Fishing gear, camping equipment, your own 4x4 vehicle, Food (budget for the 2 local guides as well) own booze and refreshments.
